Strategic Plan Introduction This document represents the strategic plan for the College of Health Professions at Armstrong Atlantic State University for 2002-2007. It is the product of work begun in September 2001 and has involved the dean’s office, department heads and faculty throughout the 2001-2002 academic year. The Strategic Plan is designed to integrate smoothly with the Armstrong Atlantic State University Strategic Plan and will serve as a framework within which the College will respond to the University’s Strategic Directions. The College of Health Professions Strategic Plan will also form the basis for assessment at all levels and for decisions about utilization of resources. The Plan responds to the strengths of the university and its faculty in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service. It sets the stage for determining the relative priorities in each of these areas at the college, department and individual faculty levels. It provides measures for assessment at each of these levels. It provides guidelines for the college to function within the urban mission of the university. As a working document, the College of Health Professions Strategic Plan is flexible and will be re-evaluated annually. Core Values define our underlying priorities and Goals demonstrate those things that are important within each Core Value. Goals for each department may differ, and may be revised annually, but carry a consistent theme. Strategies represent specific actions, which will be reviewed and updated annually, that each department and the college as a whole will take to address each goal. The Strategic Plan reflects the priorities of the faculty of the College of Health Professions. I believe that the Plan defines the directions for the college for the next five years. COHP Core Values

Core Value 1- The faculty are dedicated to excellence in teaching using a student centered approach. Core Value 2- Faculty participate in scholarly activities as a foundation for providing improvements in clinical practice, the advancement of professional knowledge and the improvement of instruction and learning. Core Value 3-The College of Health Professions values active communication with the service areas and the professional communities. This includes communication not only for understanding the needs of the service area and the professional communities but also for publicizing educational opportunities available at AASU. Coupled with this is a commitment of the faculty to distinction in community/professional service as well as responsiveness to the needs of the service area and professional community. Core Value 4-The Faculty believe that it is important to examine and, where appropriate, implement innovative strategies in education, scholarship and community service.
